Valentine Gift Ideas for the Frugal Girl

Looking for Valentine Gift Ideas for the frugal girl in your life? More than likely, the thought of flowers on the kitchen island makes her cringe. Not only do they signify money wasted but they also add to the clutter of that already scrambled kitchen island. There aint nothin’ pretty about that.

The frugal girl wants something that has meaning. Something she can enjoy for a long time. Something she would never fathom buying for herself.

Love Note

Nothing beats a love note! Just remember, the love note should be created by you, not purchased for a bazillion dollars at a store. That just stresses the frugal girl out, you know?! How about learning a fun way to fold a piece of paper just like when you were in junior high?

Take Her on an Adventure

Be the knight in shining armour that sweeps her off her feet for a fun adventure.  Do something fun that you’ve never done before. It doesn’t have to cost a dime or, it could.

The North Face ‘Glacier’ Quarter Zip Pullover

Nothing says warm and comfy quite like The North Face. Every time she puts it on, she will think of you. What’s better than that?

Practical Stuff

Valentine’s Day does not make you think practical but frugal girls LOVE practicality. I’m not saying to run out and buy toilet paper or milk. What could she really use? Perhaps a new pair of pajamas or warm fuzzy socks?

Something She Would Never Buy Herself

Us frugal girls don’t like to spend money but when you’re willing to spend yours on us we’re thrilled! Listen to what she’s been talking about. Hear her subtle clues that she doesn’t even realize she’s giving.

Dark Chocolate!

This gift should accompany any other gift you were thinking of getting. Really! The North Face ‘Glacier’ Pullover with a side of 85% dark chocolate? You just scored some major points!

Oh, and spend your allowance on her. Don’t take it out of the family budget. That just negates the whole thing, ya know?!

Oh my goodness! An adventure accompanied with a love note and dark chocolate? The North Face ‘Glacier’ Pullover would totally throw it OVER. THE. TOP. The frugal girl will be completely thrilled!

Chocolate has to be my favorite. 🙂 I don’t buy it for myself, but I LOVE it when hubby or the kids buy it for me. 🙂

I hope your hubby is reading so he knows what to do for Valentine’s Day;0) It’s just so much more special when someone buys it for you. Flowers and jewelry … meh … give me chocolate!!!

These are great gift ideas, and I my wife would love the first two. She is not too big on dark chocolate. Great frugal talk is always welcomed in my house. Thanks.

Thank you for stopping by! Will you be taking your wife on an adventure this year?!

I’m a milk chocolate fan myself. But I’m off caffeine, including chocolate now. 🙁 Love those jammies though! Fun post as usual Jayleen! 🙂

I laughed out loud about not buying flowers for someone frugal! Too true!

  • How Do The Jones Do It Feb 12, 2015, 11:38 am

Right?! Funny thing is, I used to sell flowers for the big Holidays. Now flowers to plant outside, that might be a different story;0)

You’re the best, Kay! Milk chocolate used to be my favorite as well. Somehow, the dark chocolate krept up on me. I keep going on and off the caffeine bandwagon. I’m interested to know why you gave it up?!

  • kay ~ Feb 12, 2015, 3:04 pm

Oh, Jayleen, let me count the reasons. #1 TMJ #2 Gastritis #3 Joint Pain. All in varying degrees at different times. Each time, I was told to give up caffeine, including chocolate. As soon as I’d feel better, I’d do it again, and BAM, something would hit all over again. 🙁

I especially miss coke and peanut butter cups. 🙁

  • How Do The Jones Do It Feb 12, 2015, 4:07 pm

Wow! I had no idea caffeine would be the bad guy in those cases. I better tell my hubby no more coffee to improve his joint pain … boy, is he gonna love you;0)

  • kay ~ Feb 12, 2015, 4:47 pm

Jay gave it up too. He could barely move, and that’s not easy for an HVAC guy! Now that he’s off of it, he moves freely and has no more joint pain. It is hard to go off it and the withdrawal is awful, but feeling good is worth it. Finding alternatives is key. Hope he feels better. The pain is no fun, I can testify to that! I’m still not 100%, but I have Faith that I will be! 🙂

I’m a sucker for warm fuzzy socks. Especially living in upstate New York this winter. They have become a staple in my wardrobe!!!

  • Shannon @ Financially Blonde Feb 13, 2015, 8:20 am

The best gift my hubby could ever give me is time to myself. I love it when he takes my son out to run errands or go someplace and I have the quiet house to myself for a few hours. It’s heaven on earth!

  • How Do The Jones Do It Feb 13, 2015, 4:14 pm

That’s awesome! You have a very thoughtful hubby! With teenagers in our house, things are pretty quiet these days. I need to borrow a few rambunctious kids once in a while;0)

  • How Do The Jones Do It Feb 13, 2015, 4:16 pm

Lol! I bet! They’re better than slippers! It was actually a sunny day here in the Pacific Northwest but the 14 year old still has her fuzzy socks on;0)

  • How Do The Jones Do It Feb 13, 2015, 4:17 pm

That’s amazing! I couldn’t talk the hubby into it … he shut me down right away … lol! He’s gotta want it;0)

  • Rose Jan 31, 2017, 5:43 am

A handwritten love note and next to a single red rose steals my heart. If you throw in a chocolate-any type of chocolate that’s just an added bonus. I’m super nervous about valentines though. He’s always surprising me.

  • How Do The Jones Do It Feb 2, 2017, 1:42 pm

How exciting, Rose! Surprises are always fun!
